If you are part of a good cause in Doncaster or South Yorkshire, you already know how powerful it can be when people who care about community come together. That spirit was on full display at The Charity Hub’s November Doncaster Networking Event, held on Tuesday, 4 November at Scarborough Barracks.

The morning brought together charities, CICs and socially minded businesses from across the region, all looking for the same three things — more connections, more resources and more time to make a difference.
Connecting the Third Sector and the Armed Forces Community
This month’s theme focused on partnership with the Armed Forces community. Guest speakers Pauline King, Armed Forces Regional Employer Engagement Director, Teresa Hodgson, Armed Forces Covenant Coordinator, and Paul Elder, Sergeant Major of Squadron 219, shared insights into how civilian organisations and Defence can work together to strengthen opportunity and support across the UK.
Pauline King highlighted the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) — a national promise ensuring that service personnel, veterans and their families are treated with fairness and respect. She explained how over 13,000 UK employers have already signed the Covenant, opening doors to employ talented service leavers, reservists and veterans while gaining recognition through the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).
Her message was clear: partnerships between the Armed Forces and the third sector create mutual value — strengthening communities and widening access to skilled, motivated people.
Collaboration in Action
Following the speakers, attendees joined round-table sessions to share challenges, explore collaborations and identify areas where they could support one another. The spotlight slot from Citizens Advice Doncaster focused on digital inclusion, showing how technology can be used to reach more people who need help navigating online systems and services.
The atmosphere was practical and upbeat — charities swapped ideas, exchanged details and discovered new partnership opportunities that could benefit their beneficiaries long after the event.
Sponsored by BlueBoxIT
As always, BlueBoxIT played a vital role in supporting the event. Their continued partnership ensures The Charity Hub can host sessions that empower local charities with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive — including safe, modern IT solutions that protect sensitive data and keep operations running smoothly.
Why These Events Matter
The Charity Hub’s networking events are designed to break isolation, spark collaboration and build a stronger, more connected third sector across Doncaster and South Yorkshire. By bringing together charities, CICs, businesses and supporters, these sessions turn introductions into impact.
If you missed this month’s meeting, do not worry — the next opportunity to connect is just around the corner.
