OSMIS Shares Its Story at The Charity Hub Networking Event

Our latest Charity Hub networking event took place this morning at Castle Park, Doncaster, bringing together charities, community organisations, suppliers, local partners, and people who care about making a difference across the region.

As always, the morning was about more than simply being in the same room. It was about connection, conversation, shared learning, and helping organisations understand more about the support available locally.

Andy from Osmis in white shirt presents a slide on Foundations and Connections, with Maslow's hierarchy of needs on a classroom screen.

One of the organisations in the room was OSMIS, with Andy attending to talk about their work, their journey, and the support they are looking for as they continue to grow.

Who Are OSMIS?

OSMIS provides mentoring, inclusion support, and Alternative Provision for children and young people who need a different approach to learning, confidence, and personal development.

Their work is built around helping young people feel safe, understood, and ready to move forward. They support schools, families, and care partners through practical, child-centred programmes that are shaped around the needs of each individual young person.

For many children and young people, mainstream education is not always straightforward. Some may be experiencing anxiety, low confidence, reduced school engagement, SEMH needs, SEND, ADHD, ASD, trauma, or other additional needs. In these situations, the right support can make a significant difference.

OSMIS works with young people who need that different approach, helping them build confidence, develop positive relationships, improve communication, and take steps towards learning and progression.

A Bespoke Approach to Support

One of the key messages behind OSMIS is that every young person is different.

There is no single route that works for everyone, especially when a child or young person is facing barriers around education, confidence, behaviour, emotional wellbeing, or personal development.

OSMIS builds support around individual needs, interests, and goals. This personalised approach helps each learner develop confidence, resilience, and the ability to move forward at a pace that is right for them.

Through trusted mentoring relationships, the OSMIS team supports young people with emotional literacy, self-esteem, attitudes towards learning, communication skills, and positive behaviour. This kind of support can be especially important when a young person needs consistency, patience, and someone who understands the challenges they are facing.

Supporting Schools, Families, and Referring Partners

OSMIS also works closely with schools and referring partners.

Their team helps set goals, review progress, and identify the most appropriate next step for each young person. Where appropriate, this may include carefully planned reintegration into school, specialist provision, post-16 pathways, or another suitable education setting.

Alternative Provision can play an important role for pupils who need time away from mainstream education, a more personalised learning environment, or a supported pathway back into school.

For schools, families, and care partners, having access to a provision that understands both the young person and the wider education context can be invaluable.

A Team Built Around Experience

OSMIS brings together a team with experience across education, behaviour support, SEND, SEMH, primary and secondary mentoring, and specialist support.

Their team includes qualified teachers, behavioural specialists, SEND and SEMH specialists, and experienced mentors who understand the importance of building trust with young people.

They are also an Ofsted-registered provision, offering safe, supportive, and professionally managed services for children and young people across their provision.

This professional foundation matters because the young people being supported often need more than a standard programme. They need structure, understanding, and people who can work with them in a way that feels safe and meaningful.

Sharing the Journey

At today’s Charity Hub event, Andy from OSMIS shared more about how the organisation started, how it has developed over time, and what they are working towards next.

These kinds of conversations are exactly why The Charity Hub exists.

When organisations share their stories openly, others in the room gain a better understanding of what support is available, what challenges exist, and where collaboration could make a difference.

For OSMIS, the conversation was not only about what they do now. It was also about what help they may need going forward, and how other charities, community organisations, schools, partners, and supporters may be able to connect with their work.

Why This Matters

Children and young people who are struggling with education, confidence, emotional wellbeing, or personal development often need joined-up support.

No single organisation can meet every need alone.

That is why networking and collaboration matter so much in the third sector and wider community support landscape. A conversation at an event can lead to a new referral route, a useful introduction, a partnership, or simply a better understanding of who is doing what locally.

When organisations like OSMIS are able to share their work with others, it helps strengthen the wider network of support available for young people, families, schools, and communities.

The Role of The Charity Hub

The Charity Hub networking events are designed to bring good people together.

They create space for charities, CICs, community organisations, suppliers, businesses, and local partners to meet, talk, learn, and explore how they can support one another.

Today’s event was another reminder that the most valuable outcomes do not always come from formal plans. Sometimes they begin with a simple conversation, a shared experience, or someone hearing about an organisation for the first time.

By bringing people into the same room, the Charity Hub helps create the conditions for those conversations to happen.

Looking Ahead

We would like to thank Andy from OSMIS for attending today’s event and sharing more about their organisation, their journey, and the work they are doing to support children and young people.

We would also like to thank everyone who joined us at Castle Park for another morning of connection, collaboration, and shared learning.
