On Monday, 1st July, we welcomed charities from across the region to another fantastic Charity Hub Networking Event—this time at the Helping Hands Community Centre in Doncaster. Sponsored by our trusted partners at BlueBoxIT, the event brought together local leaders, fundraisers and service providers to share ideas, forge connections and strengthen the third sector through meaningful collaboration.
Our guest speaker, Lindsy James, Founder and Director of Active Fusion, delivered an inspiring talk on Resilient Leadership in the Charity Sector. Drawing from her own experience building Active Fusion into a vital movement for young people across South Yorkshire, Lindsy explored how compassion, adaptability and a clear mission are essential in uncertain times.
Active Fusion began life in 2002 as a local school sport partnership, and today it’s a thriving charity with a mission to help every child develop a love for being active. With 18 dedicated staff, they support schools and communities to build long-lasting positive habits through physical education, sport and wellbeing. It was a powerful reminder of how vision and perseverance can create real change.
Why Networking Matters for Charities
If you’ve ever wondered whether networking is worth your time, consider this: according to the Charities Aid Foundation, 73% of charities that grow year-on-year cite peer support and partnerships as one of the key drivers of their success. Meanwhile, NCVO research shows that organisations with active local networks are more likely to secure funding, attract volunteers and deliver long-term impact.
At the Charity Hub, we know that meaningful relationships can transform how a charity operates. Whether it’s sharing best practices, forming partnerships or just offering a bit of encouragement, our networking events provide the space to connect and grow together.
