Where Can Community Groups Find Grants in South Yorkshire?

For charities, CICs and community groups across South Yorkshire, finding funding is often one of the biggest challenges. With so many different grant programmes, eligibility requirements and application deadlines, identifying an opportunity that genuinely suits your organisation can take considerable time.
At The Charity Hub, we bring together grants and funding opportunities that may be useful to organisations and individuals across the region. Some support small grassroots projects, while others focus on particular communities, activities or specialist areas of work.
There are currently several opportunities worth exploring.
Funding for Youth-Led Climate Projects
The South Yorkshire Youth Climate Action Fund is offering grants between £700 and £4,500 for climate and environmental projects designed and led by young people aged 15 to 24.
The funding supports activities across South Yorkshire, including projects focused on nature, green spaces, climate resilience and developing green skills.
Applications must be submitted through an eligible host organisation that can manage the funding and support delivery. The projects themselves must be genuinely youth-led.
Applications close on Friday 23 October 2026 at 5pm, so organisations interested in this opportunity should check the requirements promptly.

Supporting Communities Around Thorne and Moorends
The Tween Bridge Wind Farm Community Fund offers another opportunity for community organisations working in parts of the Doncaster area.
Most grants range from £500 to £7,500 and can support projects relating to community activities, education, health and wellbeing, the environment and other local needs.
The funding is geographically focused, supporting people living within three miles of the Tween Bridge Wind Farm near Thorne. Organisations should check the defined area carefully before applying.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with assessment arrangements and deadlines explained in the fund guidance.

Finding Funding That Fits Your Organisation
One of the most important parts of searching for grants is understanding whether an opportunity genuinely matches what your organisation does.
A fund offering a substantial amount of money may sound attractive, but if its priorities, geographical restrictions or eligibility requirements do not match your project, preparing an application could mean spending valuable time on an unsuitable opportunity.
Before applying, it is worth understanding what the funder wants to achieve, who can apply, what activities can be supported and what evidence you will need to provide.
Having a clear project idea, realistic costs and an understanding of the difference your work will make can help you decide where to focus your efforts.
