GWL United’s progressive strategy for 2024 aims to continue our advancement through the exclusion barriers that currently exist within female participation across South and West Yorkshire.
• Continue activity that prioritises females needs and preferences in culturally safe environments. • Continue to break down existing barriers associated with females participating in sport via provision of welcoming participants to safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces ensuring that evaluative tools are regularly employed to shape design and delivery of future activity. • Effectively ‘trail-blaze’ the path of creating the first ‘Female Only’ Futsal Club in Kirklees and South Yorkshire by providing training to local Grassroots clubs, and creating pathways using existing links forged across Yorkshire.
• Continue to promote and facilitate our involvement in local holiday clubs with particular focus on children and young people in receipt of free school meals. • Continuing to explore the detriments of non-physical activity for girls, women and ladies living in and around HD8 - an area often deprived of funding – following on from our successful: ‘A l’il bit more than you did before’ pilot which saw up to 16 ladies (with a body mass index of over 35) take part in regular physical activity. • Develop 3v3 football and Futsal across Yorkshire.
• Develop 3v3 Multi-Sports catering for curricular and extracurricular activities for everyone living in Yorkshire.
• Continuing to facilitate and roll-out the provision of ‘Magic’ sessions at local Community Centre’s providing positive multi-activity experiences so that individuals of all ages and abilities can benefit from inclusive practice.
• Deliver active maths for Doncas City Council to meet the needs and requirements of the Multiply programme.
