Woodland Creation Planning Grant

About the fund

The Forestry Commission’s Woodland Creation Planning Grant helps applicants produce a UK Forestry Standard-compliant woodland design plan. Support begins with £1,500 for initial constraints and opportunities work, followed by a stage-two payment and possible specialist surveys, up to a maximum total award of £30,500.

Who can apply

Eligible applicants include landowners, land managers and certain public bodies planning woodland creation in England. Proposed woodland must normally cover at least five hectares and landowner permission is required where the applicant does not control the site. A charity managing suitable land may be able to apply if all scheme conditions are met.

Applications

The Forestry Commission states that applications can be made year-round and there is currently no known closing date. The 2030 date shown in the government directory is a funding-confirmation date rather than the closing date for applications.
