About the grant

The Ministry of Justice is funding a comparative research project on the Brazilian Reading for Remission approach. The work will explore evidence from international prison reading initiatives and their potential contribution to education, participation and rehabilitation policy in England and Wales.

Who can apply

This is a research competition for UK higher education institutions, recognised research organisations and academic partnerships led by an eligible institution. It is not an unrestricted grant for community projects or independent charities.

Closing date

Applications close Sunday 22 November 2026 at 11:59pm. The available grant is £5,000–£15,000.
