The Weston Charity Awards
The Weston Charity Awards, a collaboration between the Garfield Weston Foundation and Pilotlight, support ambitious charities in the fields of Community, Environment, Welfare, and Youth. They aim to amplify the impact of small charities across the North of England, the Midlands, and Wales.
Award Package:
Each year, up to 22 charities receive a support package valued at over £22,000, which includes:
Unrestricted Grant: £6,500 to facilitate strategic change and foster innovative growth.
Pilotlight 360 Programme: An eight-month leadership coaching package worth approximately £16,000, providing mentoring from senior professionals across various sectors.
Collaborative Opportunities: Access to events and networks through Pilotlight’s UK-wide charity connections.
Peer Support: Two sessions with fellow award winners to share best practices and learn from each other.
Celebratory Event: A concluding event to honor the achievements of all award winners.
Enhanced Profile: Recognition associated with receiving an award for excellence.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible, charities must:
Be registered with a charity number.
Have at least one paid full-time staff member in a leadership position.
Have been operational for a minimum of two years.
Have an annual income of less than £5 million.
Provide direct services to beneficiaries or engage in practical environmental action.
Operate primarily in the North or Midlands of England, or Wales.
Application Process:
Applications for the 2025 Awards are currently open, with a deadline of 5 pm on Wednesday, 8 January 2025. The process involves:
Application Submission: Complete the application form, detailing how the award would benefit your charity and its beneficiaries.
Longlisting: Selected charities may be contacted for additional information.
Shortlisting: Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a meeting to discuss the potential fit.
Final Selection: Winners are chosen by the Awards Judging Panel and notified accordingly.
